GRAND CANYON, AZ - All the gear packs up into the trailer and we're off. We've all submitted applications for another permit to do the trip again. Hopefully it won't take another 14 years like it did for this permit.
GRAND CANYON, AZ - After landing at the Diamond Creek Take-Out, 225 miles from where we started 18 days ago, we empty the boats, pull the frames, and pack it all up for the drive back to Bend, OR.
GRAND CANYON, AZ - Whitewater rafting down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon - 225 miles, 18 days, 16 men, 14 swimmers, 8 rafts, 4 flips. Starting at Lees Ferry, AZ to Diamond Creek Take Out, AZ.
GRAND CANYON, AZ - The up-canyon winds persist and we have to work to get the last few miles covered. I snuck up behind Dan and figured it would be easier for me to tie on to him and just let him pull me along... he wasn't impressed.
GRAND CANYON, AZ - The eighteenth day on the river, our last day, we spot Diamond Peak. Just around the bend we will pull out of the Colorado River and end our Grand Canyon trip. Max and Rich row side by side in the yellow raft.
GRAND CANYON, AZ - Departing in the morning from Parashant Camp (XV) after recovering from Lava Falls Rapid and the almost 20 miles covered that day.

GRAND CANYON, AZ - From our scouting vantage point, we watch Larry battle his way through the torrent that is Lava Falls Rapid (Mile 179) along river left where the infamous "Cheese Grater" has been known to tear rafts to ribbons in seconds.
GRAND CANYON, AZ - We pass from morning shadow to light in the calm waters just above Lava Falls Rapid at mile 179.
