Right from the parking lot while we're getting our park permit a pack of pachyderms parade by. There a little ways off, but it's still a rare sighting for this part of Tanzania.
Not 50m into the park we meet twigga - the giraffe! They were just hanging out chowing down. It was pretty cool to see them so close and not in a cage or zoo.

When Mt. Meru erupted 6,000 years ago, the lava, mud and ash clogged the river and formed these lakes. Because the lakes have no egress except evaporation, the minerals pile up and the lakes have become alkaline.
The critters roam and feed all together in a dried up lake bed.

On the drive back to Moshi, we pass some Massai walking across a field.
We also passed the unique candelabra tree.
