SOUTH POLE STATION, ANTARCTICA: Another road trip to the Pole... except this one was part of our (USAP) program and brought us supplies from McMurdo as a test to see if it's feasible and cheaper to drive supplies to the pole instead of flying them.
SOUTH POLE, ANTARCTICA: On a cloudy morning, Kris and I strapped on our skis and made our way back out to the buried LC-130 aircraft, Skier 917, that crash landed at the South Pole skiway (NPX) on 28 January 1973. But first we had to climb up and ski down a little mound of snow to start our 3 kilometer ski out to the plane.
